To Write Love On Her Arms is a non profit innovative that I have been following for quite sometime now. The organization is dedicated to bringing hope to those struggling with depression, addiction, self-harm, and suicide. TWLOHA, for short, exists to help, encourage, inform, inspire, and also invest directly into the treatment and recovery of all people struggling with mental health.
Founder, Jamie Tworkowski, didn’t initially start out trying to create this influential and powerful organization. At first Jamie just sought to help out a friend. Jamie met Renee Yohe, a women struggling with addiction, depression, self-harm, and suicidal thoughts. Jamie began selling t-shirts to help cover the cost of her treatment. The original story about the five days he spent with her before she entered a treatment center was posted first on Myspace. The name of the story was “To Write Love On Her Arms.” If you wish to read the original story, click this link.
Tackling Mental Health Through Poetry
I wrote earlier about my upcoming article with non-profit organization To Write Love On Her Arms and the day has finally arrived. My article is posted live on their website and I’m ecstatic. If you all would please go check it out, share, and tell me what you think I would appreciate it. I talk about mental health, my poetry book, and some hard fought battles I’ve had in my life. Thanks for the love and support.
